Hi there!

I’m Bettina Brown, the founder of Fit After Breast Cancer. My main goal with this organization was to create a safe and supportive space where women could find comfort and guidance during their journey of breast cancer recovery. I’ve had the privilege of working with incredibly strong and resilient clients, who often have many questions but struggle to find the right resources and professionals to provide them with answers. It deeply frustrated me to see my clients having to travel for hours just to see a lymphedema specialist or have a dedicated physical therapist focused on breast cancer recovery.

That’s why I decided to establish the Fit After Breast Cancer website– to offer these women a space where they can feel comfortable and supported throughout their recovery process. Little did I know that this journey would also teach me about the incredible power of the human spirit and how it can bring peace into one’s life. It opened my eyes to the unfortunate reality that many individuals in non-metropolitan areas lack access to essential healthcare professionals who can properly inform and treat them.

Access to information shouldn’t be a challenge for anyone facing cancer. When breast cancer affected my own family and I went through my own scare, discovering that I carry the BRCA 2 gene, I realized just how important it is to have access to comprehensive knowledge about breast cancer, the recovery process, and the pursuit of feeling whole again.

In my educational background, I initially pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and later earned a Master’s in Physical Therapy from the University of New Mexico in 2006. As my interest in wound care grew, I sought further certification from the American Board of Wound Management in 2015. This allowed me to change my professional path, working at an outpatient clinic and providing personalized care to clients actively undergoing or recovering from breast cancer treatment. In 2017, I also became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, and in 2021, I achieved board certification. I’ve been able to be the instructor for continuing education courses through Home CEU/Colibri Health.

I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of this incredible journey with Fit After Breast Cancer, where I can make a positive impact on the lives of women affected by breast cancer. It’s a privilege to contribute to this cause and to learn and grow alongside our amazing community.

Part of recovery is learning more about “what’s next.” For some, using a compression sleeve becomes part of their daily routine. Here, I am showing someone how to put this on.

Working alongside resilient clients has been an incredibly transformative journey, both personally and professionally. I’ve had the privilege of hosting a podcast called In the Rising with Bettina Brown, where I aim to empower individuals to conquer challenges and utilize adversity as a catalyst for growth. Over the course of three years, I’ve produced an impressive collection of 180 episodes, featuring enlightening conversations with esteemed mentors, financial experts, and medical professionals. Through this platform, I’ve also been bestowed with the remarkable opportunity to become a Top Mentor on the Wisdom app. This revolutionary platform facilitates seamless interactions between creators, podcasters, and listeners, amplifying the impact of our collective dialogue.

I have had the privilege of connecting with numerous courageous women who have triumphed over breast cancer. These incredible individuals have channeled their challenging experiences to inspire others by writing empowering books, delivering motivational speeches, and even becoming life coaches. Breast cancer recovery and embracing a sense of well-being extend far beyond the physical aspect.

Spending extensive time with my clients has fueled my desire to not only impart valuable knowledge but also cultivate deep connections. As a result, I pursued certification as an International Coaching Federation Christian Life Coach- through the Center for Christian Coaching.

During my journey of learning, I delved into the significance of core values and unraveling one’s aspirations. Going through energy healing Reiki training, and learning to relax and heal. This introspection led me to write a book entitled “Be the Testament: A Journey of Self-Love and Discovery,” which I chose to self-publish. Creating this book provided fresh insights and renewed my appreciation for evaluating and embracing my spirituality and belief system, as well as that of my clients.

I treasure the moments shared with individuals undergoing breast cancer, whether as a physical therapist or as a host of a podcast. It fills me with utmost gratitude to share my expertise and experiences, as I strive to guide and support others on their unique paths.
